Health Partners Foundation
To help meet the needs of our communities, we sponsor and support local organizations that are making a positive difference in the neighborhoods where our members live.
The Foundation is funded by Health Partners Plans employees with the help of the generous support of business and individual donors.
Several Foundation programs increase the odds of success for our neighbors.
Here’s how we're commited to inspiring positive change in our community:
Making a Difference Awards
Each October, HPF honors local outstanding individuals and organizations that are working hard to make a difference in their communities. The 2016 event featured honorees from Athletes C.A.R.E., The Philly Youth Poetry Movement, Anton Moore of Unity in the Community, Sue Weldon of Unite for HER and Dahkeem Williams of the William Trippley Youth Development Foundation. Meet this year's winners.
Community College Connections Scholarship
High achieving students with a financial need from our partner schools are eligible for our Community College Connections scholarship to help pay for books and other educational expenses. Meet some of our scholarship recipients.
Show Up and Shine
We partner with local middle schools to recognize students who exemplify S.T.A.R characteristics through: strong attendance, team player qualities, academic effort by maintaining a 2.5 GPA, and maintaining respect of all school policies. Learn more about the Show Up and Shine award.
Health Tech Award
Encouraging students to explore connections between health and technology, the Health Tech award recognizes a student in grades 7-12 for the best project at the George Washington Carver Science Fair that shows how technology can help address health issues. The winner receives $100 and recognition from the Foundation. Meet our Health Tech awardee.
Winter Food Drive
Each November, HPP employees fill laundry baskets with food items. The baskets are hand delievered to organizations and individuals within our community. In 2016, we delivered 239 baskets! View photos of the 2016 Winter Food Drive.
Annual Toy Drive
Each December, HPP employees purchase gifts for children in need. In 2016, we delivered toys and gifts to a diverse group of organizations including: Rubye's Kids, Turning Points for Children, Congreso, Concilio, Jewish Relief Agency, Asian Americans United, United for HER and more. Our goal in 2017 is to donate 400 toys and gifts. View photos from the 2016 Annual Toy Drive.
Summer Heat Emergency Relief (Chill Program)
Each summer, we provide box fans to shut-ins, children with special needs and others who need relief from the summer heat. See how we help local residents keep cool.
Read Across America Book Drive
HPF collects donated books to be distributed to kids of all ages from our region to encourage reading. HPF and HPP personally delivered donated books to five local partner schools: Richard Wright Elementary, Stonehurst Elementary, Laboratory Charter School, Delcroft School and St. Thomas Aquinas Mission School. Tooth Buddy Tales
Partnering with HPP's community education team and in honor of National Children's Dental Health Month, HPF organizes a puppet show, providing area students fun, laugher and an important message about oral hygiene. See all the smiling faces here.
