Community Education Workshops & Classes

We offer workshops to community organizations at no cost.

If your organization would like to learn about health and wellness, you can choose from our list of workshop topics below or we can develop a custom workshop to meet your specific needs.

All of our programs are led by dynamic instructors who want to make a difference in the communities we serve.

Workshop topics

Blood Pressure Control: Discover steps you can take to prevent or manage high blood pressure and learn the common misconceptions about the condition.

Building Self-Esteem in My Children and Me (two part series): Created for parents, this workshop is offered in two parts and explores the connection between self-esteem and behavior and provides parents with practical tips, tools and suggestions for enhancing the self-esteem of their children.

Cholesterol: Keeping It under Control: Learn the difference between HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol) and how to maintain or regain healthy cholesterol levels.

Diabetes: It’s a Family Matter: Learn how to manage diabetes and how the entire family can benefit from healthy eating.

Fitness Dance Essentials: Learn how dancing can provide aerobic exercise, add to your strength and flexibility, improve your balance and posture and aid your overall health. Come prepared to dance.

From Coverage to Care: Designed to help individuals understand their health care coverage and connect to primary care and the preventive services that are right for them.

Functional Fitness: Explore three important forms of exercise: muscle strength, stretching/flexibility and aerobic.

Healthy Kids Initiative: Designed for youth in grades 6-8. Topics include:

  • Understanding Asthma

Living and Thriving with Asthma: Find out about symptoms, triggers and treatments to help you live with and manage asthma.

Men’s health: Learn about issues that are important to men, including prostate awareness, testicular cancer and diabetes care and prevention.

Not On Tobacco: Created by the American Lung Association, this voluntary smoking cessation program is designed for teens 14-19. 

Senior Safety: Provides senior citizens with information on how to prevent falls, maintain a healthy social lifestyle and how to avoid fraud.

The Changing Role of Today’s Fathers: Created for fathers, this workshop provides tips on co-parenting, healthy discipline, effective communication and providing financial, emotional, and psychological support for children.

Think Before You Text: Created for teens and their parents, this workshop places special emphasis on preventing sexting by addressing the legal, social, emotional educational and potential career impact.

Zumba: Latin based cardio fitness class designed to help active adults feel stronger, younger, happier and healthier.
