Philadelphia, PA — On May 29, the Health Partners Foundation (HPF) gave five local students college scholarships and honored more than sixty others for perfect attendance during its “Be There! Perfect Attendance and Make Dreams Reality” scholarship luncheon. The perfect attendance and scholarship programs recognize students for their exemplary achievements, while teaching them the importance of education. 900AM WURD host and bestselling author Solomon Jones served as keynote speaker at the luncheon, praising honorees for their accomplishments and encouraging them to pursue their dreams.
Seniors Mic-Keiya Bethea of Chester H.S., Saiyana Stovall of Jules E. Mastbaum Area Vocational Technical School, Jacqueline Cegueda and Amayrani Higueldo of Norristown H.S. and Jason Rodriguez of Thomas Edison H.S. each received multi-year scholarships that award $2,000 for their first year of college. The scholarships increase each year the student maintains at least a 3.0 GPA. Since its inception, the program has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships.
“The Foundation provides a number of educational, relief and recognition programs for students and the community,” said HPF president Lovell T. Harmon. “The Foundation and its supporters love giving back to the communities where we live and work. A major effort in this is helping students realize their dreams of going to college.”
