Ordering Physician Notification for Pediatric Shift Care CPT Code S9122

On January 1, 2021, HPP became compliant with Section 12006 of the Twenty First Century Cures Act (Cures Act) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requiring the utilization of Electronic Visit Verification System (EVV) for all Personal Care Services. The Cures Act Mandate requires all visits to be timestamped via an electronic verification method utilizing EVV tools to record the member, caregiver, location of the service, date of the service and the type of service performed. HPP has partnered with HAeXchange to ensure the compliance of our physicians servicing our members who need Personal Care Services.

Important note as to how this impacts you as a Current or Future Ordering Physician for one of our members requiring Personal Care Services – Effectively immediately when requesting Personal Care Services for a Pediatric HPP member, the request must be in hour long increments. HPP will be following DHS guidelines with respect to rounding rules for procedure code S9122 – Home health aide or certified nurse assistant, providing care in the home; per hour and the initial request for services must be done correctly to ensure compliance.

If you have questions regarding the above, please feel free to contact Janice Velazquez, Shift Care Coordinator at 215-845-4860.

Thank you for your support in providing the highest quality of care to our members.
