SPECIALTY MEDICATIONS & PHARMACIES
Specialty medications are drugs that require special handling, administration or monitoring. They are used to treat complex, chronic and often costly conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, hepatitis C and hemophilia. They are usually injectable, infused, oral or inhaled.
Our contracted network of participating specialty pharmacies are specifically authorized to coordinate the care and delivery of select specialty medications.
PRIOR AUTHORIZATIONS AND SPECIALTY PHARMACY SELECTIONS
Please fax all requests for new prior authorizations or extensions of previously authorized prior authorizations to our pharmacy department at 1-866-240-3712.
Ask the member to select their pharmacy preference and list this pharmacy clearly on the fax. This pharmacy will be responsible for coordinating the care and delivery of their specialty medication(s). If a specific pharmacy has not been selected by the member and/or provider within 24 hours, HPP will use its discretion to select a participating pharmacy on behalf of the member.
For questions about prior authorizations, please contact our pharmacy department at 215-991-4300.
