Health Partners Plans Remains Among Highest-Rated Medicaid Plans in Pennsylvania

One of Top Two Medicaid MCOs in Pennsylvania and Among Top 15 in the Nation

Philadelphia, PA — Known as an industry leader for addressing social determinants of health, managed care organization Health Partners Plans (HPP) announced that, as of September 20, 2019, its Medicaid health plan remains one of the top two plans in Pennsylvania, receiving an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 according to the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Medicaid Health Insurance Plan Ratings 2019-2020. The previous year, HPP was also rated an overall 4.5 out of 5 in NCQA’s Medicaid Health Insurance Plan Ratings 2018 – 2019.

In addition, HPP is among the top 15 Medicaid plans in the country to receive an overall rating of 4.5 or better out of 5 according to NCQA’s Medicaid Health Insurance Plan Ratings 2019-2020.  And HPP is also the top-rated plan for prevention in Pennsylvania, earning a 4.5 out of 5. This measure is based on how well plans provide screenings, immunizations and other preventive services.

“Being among the highest-rated plans, according to one of the nation’s leading health care accrediting organizations, has become standard for HPP, but we never take this recognition for granted,” said HPP President and CEO Denise Napier. “By continually striving for a high rating, HPP shows its commitment to delivering the best possible health care to our members.”

NCQA’s ratings are based on three types of quality measures: clinical quality from NCQA’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®), the most widely used performance measurement in health care; consumer satisfaction using Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) and its own review of quality processes and accreditation standards.
