James Hynek Named Senior Vice President of Finance for Health Partners Plans

Philadelphia, PA — James Hynek, a seasoned leader in the managed care industry, has joined Health Partners Plans (HPP) as Senior Vice President of Finance, reporting to Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer Eric Huss.

Hynek oversees the planning, directing and controlling of overall financial plans and policies, accounting practices and relationships with institutions, stakeholders and the financial community. He also directs treasury, budgeting, accounting, and insurance activities, and plays a leadership role in strategic and corporate planning and risk management. In addition, Hynek oversees the preparation of accurate and timely financial information for delivery to management, the board of directors and regulatory authorities.

An accomplished financial health insurance executive, Hynek has extensive experience in managed care organizations. He has demonstrated success in implementing financial reporting and analysis that result in actionable information. He’s also facilitated success through financial strategy, creating efficient financial organizations that foster continuous process improvement and effectively aligning resources and capabilities. Hynek has a history of using a customer-focused approach to build effective relationships with management, boards and regulators.

Prior to joining HPP, Hynek served as vice president of financial planning and analysis at Gateway Health Plan in Pittsburgh. During his career, Hynek has also served as: chief accounting officer at AmeriHealth Caritas in Philadelphia; and  chief financial officer at both Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware and Coventry Health Care of  Delaware.

Hynek received his Bachelor of Science in accounting from Bradley University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (Registered – Illinois) and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
