Health Partners Plans Names Kalyan Narayanan Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Philadelphia, PA — Health Partners Plans (HPP) announced today that Kalyan Narayanan has joined the company as Vice President, Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Narayanan brings over 25 years of information technology (IT) experience to his new role. He will be responsible for overseeing the IT strategic vision, architecture, roadmap and implementation of HPP’s business objectives. He will also manage IT programs and the company’s technology portfolio, working with all divisions to advance HPP’s position as a technology leader in health care.
For the past sixteen months, Mr. Narayanan served as a strategy consultant for HPP. He’s managed many of the company’s new technological initiatives, which enhance member and provider experience.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Narayanan has used his expertise in strategic planning and execution of complex technology transformations in several business industries, including health care. He also has an extensive background in the commercial, Medicare and Medicaid health markets.

Prior to joining HPP, Mr. Narayanan served as the digital transformation leader for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. He modernized the customer experience for members, providers and brokers across all lines of business, including Affordable Care Act exchanges, Medicare and Medicaid. A true techie at heart, Mr. Narayanan began building health education and collaboration sites in 2002 for patients and doctors, providing support for chronic illnesses including diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and cancer. In 2014, he built an award-winning online health education model for Stage 4 lung cancer patients and developed a new online health insurance purchasing model.
Mr. Narayanan holds a bachelor’s degree in instrumentation from the Birla Institute of Technology and his executive masters in technology management from Stevens Institute of Technology. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in global health from Northwestern University. His hobbies include blogging, podcasting, mentoring, home improvement and health care research. He resides with his wife and two children in South Brunswick, New Jersey.
