Senior Vice President and General Manager of Central Pennsylvania
Steve Schlager is the Senior Vice President of CHIP and General Manager of Central Pennsylvania at Health Partners Plans (HPP). He is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the Children’s Insurance Program (CHIP) and all business activities related to HPP’s HealthChoices proposed Medicaid expansion in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh/Capital zone. In addition to the expansion, Mr. Schlager oversees strategy and ongoing operations in the region, as well as Disadvantaged Business relations.
Mr. Schlager joined HPP in April 2017, bringing with him nearly 30 years of health care leadership experience. He has a proven track record in a wide array of specialties, including strategic vision, new business implementation, disease management and care coordination, provider contracting and marketing. Over the course of his career, Schlager also acquired extensive experience leading and growing successful Medicaid and Medicare programs.
Mr. Schlager previously served as senior vice president of network development at Coventry Health Care. He also served as chief operating officer of KEPRO, the nation’s largest CMS-designated quality improvement and care management organization. Additionally, Mr. Schlager served as vice president of payor relations and reimbursement for Pacific Edge Diagnostics USA.
Mr. Schlager received his Bachelor of Science from Villanova University before earning a Master of Business Administration from York College of Pennsylvania. He is active with the Trinity High School Athletic Association and is a grade school basketball coach.
